Dildo Gag
WHY PEOPLE USE IT
The appeal is the layered power exchange. The wearer is silenced and objectified while simultaneously being used as a penetrative instrument, a combination that many people in dominant/submissive dynamics find intensely charged. It is also popular in strap-on and face-sitting scenes where the gag keeps the wearer's mouth occupied and the dildo provides penetration without the wearer having full agency over the movement.HOW POPULAR IS IT
Dildo gags are a niche but well-established item in the BDSM toy market. They appear most commonly in femdom and pegging contexts, and in scenes involving face-sitting or oral service with restraint. Mainstream retailers stock them, though they sit firmly in the kink category rather than the general sex toy aisle.HISTORY
The dildo gag emerged from the tradition of combining gags with other implements, a practical evolution of the harness gag. It appears in BDSM imagery from the 1970s and became a catalogue staple by the 1980s through publishers like Larry Townsend's leathersex guides. The harness mounting system has a longer history in humiliation play, where the same face harness principle is used to attach serving trays, ashtrays, and other objects, turning the wearer into furniture. The dildo version is the same concept applied to penetration. The design has remained almost unchanged since, though materials have shifted from basic leather to include silicone dildos and neoprene harnesses.WHAT TO LOOK FOR
The external dildo should be made from body-safe silicone, glass, or hard ABS rather than PVC. Strap adjustment matters, particularly around the head, as an uneven fit creates pressure points during extended wear. Look for a design that keeps the dildo centred at a practical angle. If the dildo is removable, you can swap in different sizes.TRUSTED BRANDS

HOW TO LOOK AFTER IT
Clean the dildo and harness as separate components. Remove the dildo from the harness before cleaning. If the dildo is silicone and non-vibrating, it can be boiled, run through a dishwasher on the top rack, or wiped down with isopropyl alcohol. Do not boil dildos with internal electronics or suction cups. Do not share silicone dildos between users without sterilising, as silicone is porous enough to harbour bacteria at the surface level after heavy use.
Wipe harness straps with a damp cloth and mild soap. Dry thoroughly before reattaching the dildo. Metal buckles and D-rings should be dried after use and checked for rust or stress cracking. Store with the dildo removed to reduce stress on the attachment point. Keep in a dry bag away from direct sunlight.
