Loop Cane

A loop cane replaces the standard single tip with a doubled loop of cane or rod material at the striking end. The loop creates a wider contact point than a standard cane tip, distributing the impact across a small area rather than concentrating it on a single line. Loop canes are typically made from rattan or synthetic rod material and are used in both discipline and sensation contexts.

WHY PEOPLE USE IT

The loop changes the sensation profile meaningfully. Where a standard cane delivers a sharp linear mark, a loop cane delivers a broader impact with a distinctive doubled sensation at the edges of the loop. Some receivers find it more tolerable at higher intensities than a standard cane tip; others find the doubled contact point more intense. It is a different implement, not simply a milder version of a standard cane.

HISTORY

The history of caning and its development as a BDSM implement is covered on the Caning entry.

WHAT TO LOOK FOR

The loop should be firmly fixed and symmetrical. An asymmetric loop will land unevenly. Check that the join between the loop and the handle section is secure and will not work loose under use. The loop ends should be smooth with no sharp edges.

WHERE TO BUY IT

Loop canes are a specialist item available primarily from dedicated BDSM implement makers and Etsy craftspeople. Less widely stocked than standard canes.

  • Mid-range: $30$60 depending on material and maker.

Rough prices as of July 2026.

HOW TO LOOK AFTER IT

Same care as the base material. Pay particular attention to the loop join point, which is under stress on each stroke. Inspect before use for any signs of loosening or cracking at the junction.
